OUR PROGRAMS
160 Basic Course
The 160 Hour Basic Course at CDL America Inc. is designed to provide students with the essential training needed to obtain their CDL Class A license while building the skills and confidence necessary to begin a career in the trucking industry. This course is typically 5-7 weeks. As the program below our Intermediate Course, the Basic Course focuses on providing students with the minimum training hours required by the Secretary of State to obtain a CDL Class A license while still delivering quality hands-on instruction and real-world driving experience.
This program includes classroom instruction, observation, PTI hands-on training, yard skills training, road driving experience, ELDT theory training, and FMCSA compliance requirements. Students also benefit from flexible behind-the-wheel scheduling and one-on-one hands-on instruction to help ensure they receive personalized support throughout their training. In addition, students have the advantage of taking all three final CDL tests on the same yard where they practice and train, creating a more comfortable and familiar testing environment.
The Basic Course also includes the final behind-the-wheel exam, CLP permit assistance, CDL DOT physical, and drug screen as part of the tuition. Additional behind-the-wheel practice, if needed, is included, and all retest fees are waived to help students successfully complete the program without unexpected costs. This course is an excellent option for students looking to meet all state and federal entry-level driver training requirements while receiving strong foundational CDL Class A training before entering the workforce.
Intermediate Program
The Intermediate Program at CDL America Inc. is designed for students who are looking for more advanced training and expanded career opportunities within the trucking industry. As a step above our 160 Hour Basic Course, this intensive 8-week, 200-hour CDL Class A program provides additional hands-on experience and Hazmat endorsement preparation to help students become more competitive in today’s job market. The program includes 80 hours of classroom instruction, 20 hours of observation, 30 hours of hands-on pre-trip training, 25 hours of yard skills training, 25 hours of road driving experience, and 20 hours of Hazmat classroom training.
At CDL America Inc., students benefit from one-on-one hands-on instruction and personalized behind-the-wheel training designed to build confidence, skill, and real-world driving experience. The program includes ELDT Hazmat theory testing, ELDT Hazmat theory submission and verification, Hazmat study materials, Hazmat background check assistance, and the Secretary of State Hazmat fee. Tuition also includes the CLP permit, CDL DOT physical, and drug screen up to one time. In addition, all extra practice sessions and retest fees are waived, allowing students to focus on successfully completing the program without worrying about additional costs.
The Intermediate Program is ideal for students who want to maximize their career potential in the trucking industry. Obtaining a Hazmat endorsement can open the door to additional job opportunities, specialized driving positions, and increased earning potential, as many employers seek drivers with advanced qualifications. Please note that not all students qualify for this program, as applicants must be eligible to obtain the Hazmat endorsement and pass the required background check.
